100 years since the birth of the great Italian intellectual, Elsinore Theatre Company and the Cultural Centre in Milan has created the project Milan discovers Guareschi Guareschi Milan discovers a series of events organized November 14 to 30 Teatro Bramante in the frame of Fontana Hall tribute to a hero of our historical and literary culture, tracing its remarkable artistic life, full of successes but full of controversy and contradictions.

The most significant event, clearly shows the popularity Giovanni Guareschi obtained not only in Emilia in Italy but all over the world, is the exhibition Don Camillo in the world: the covers and illustrations Piccolo Mondo, an extraordinary collection of the best covers and illustrations of Guareschi's books in all its editions, evidence of its durable success. The Guareschi, the surprise of the author same, only surpassed a million copies in Italy, to arrive today to twenty million in 400 editions, translated into over 50 languages.

The exhibition highlights the works of artists who have better understood and interpreted the complex figures of Don Camillo of Peppone and character of the Little World , leaders by a different image from the illustrations of Guareschi himself, and the film adaptations.

The exhibition, admission free, is staged in the foyer of the Theatre Fountain Hall until Nov. 30, hours Mon-Fri 10-13/15-18, Sat / Sun 15-18


To celebrate not only the centenary of the birth of Guareschi but also the 40th anniversary of the death and the 60th of the publication of Don Camillo , Franco Palmieri, director of Elsinore Theatre Company, in collaboration with the Festival come from the Sea! " has made the show Don Camillo and Peppone are me, a singular theatrical adaptation of the stories in which Guareschi Stefano Braschi, with the voice of the writer, will reconstruct the moments of life of Little World, bringing to life the characters.
The magical reality of the small village of Lower, the poetic simplicity of its inhabitants, the presence of the great river that flows through the plains, meet in this show which recreates the popular and rustic atmosphere, but rich in wisdom, gentleness and charm.

Monday, November 24, at 21 , the Fountain Theatre will host the conference room " I Chose Freedom," during which Alessandro Gnocchi and Giorgio Torelli, coordinated by the director of the Cultural Center of Milan Camillo Fornasieri , will present the public with their accounts an unprecedented human and historical portrait of the creator of Don Camillo.
Expert literature and religious themes, Alessandro Gnocchi is the leading scholar of Giovanni Guareschi, who has already devoted several essays. Giorgio Torelli, a journalist since 1954 and witnessed the relationship between Montanelli and Guareschi, has personally known the writer and his family, with whom he got some ideas and support for the realization of his book, conceived as an album of memories, memories, thoughts and drawings, many of which were built by the same Guareschi.
