Camaj Academic research has focused on the Albanian language and its dialects, particularly those of southern Italy. His literary activity during a period of forty-five years and cover different stages of development. Starter with poetry, a genre in which he remained faithful throughout his life, but in later years he devoted himself increasingly to prose. His first volume of poetry classics Nji male fyell nder, Prishtina 1953 (A flute in the mountains), and vërrinit and Kang, Prishtina 1954 (Song of lowland pastures), were inspired by his hometown mountains of northern Albania for which never lost his attachment, despite long years of exile and the impossibility of return. These were followed by Djella, Rome 1958 (Djella), a novel interspersed with verses from the love of a teacher for a girl of the plains. . His poetry collections Legjenda, Rome 1964 (Legends) and mes dy Lirik moteve, Monaco di Baviera 1967 (Song between two centuries), which contained revised versions of a number of poems by vërrinit and Kang, were reprinted in poezie 1953-1967, Monaco 1981 (Poetry 1953-1967). Verses mature Camaj reflect the influence of the Hermetic movement of the Italian poet Giuseppe Ungaretti (1888-1970). The symbolic and metaphorical nature of his language grows with time as well as the range of his poetic themes ..
